I Want To Escape The Polar Vortex!
When is the Best Time To Go?
The simplest answer to that question is to first by stating when not to go.
There are 2 rainy seasons in East Africa. The first are the long rains that
usually take place (you can never be 100% accurate with the weather) in
March-April and the short rains are in November.
As for the rest of the time of year it depends on your answer to number 2
above. Want to see the Great Migration in Tanzania? The time to see
that is the Aug-October period when the wildebeest are in the Northern
Serengeti. Want to get to the migration easier when they wildebeest are
calving? That is in the Southern Serengeti in January-February. May-July
is the dry season and also a great time to go but tends to be more
crowded. And there is nothing wrong with spending the holidays in Africa
in December. In East Africa you are about 4 degrees off the equator so
the weather is pretty stable all year round.
